Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many people can stay at Wonder Bear Lodge?
A: Wonder Bear Lodge holds a max of 16 people (yes, sixteen - that's the true limit). We're regulated by Jo Daviess County, and that's the max occupancy. If you have a larger group that's coming together, we love that you have such a big group, but you'll need to find a different space!
Q: Tell me about the pool.
Private pool: There is a private, 42x21 ft pool onsite. The private pool is roughly 30 inches deep. This pool is not heated, and is open roughly Memorial Day through September. Actual close date depends on the weather.
Apple Canyon Pool: Additionally, there is a heated outdoor pool at Apple Canyon Lake, 10 minutes away. This pool is zero depth on one end, with a diving on the other. This pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Both pools are great!
Q: Is there a grill and/or propane?
A: Yes. There is a Blackstone flat top grill AND propane at the lodge for you to use.
Q: I want to host Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Is there enough pots/pans and dishes to serve and do the cooking?
A: Yes! We believe that if a home advertises hosting up to 16, there should be enough seats, plates, silverware, and cooking dishes to handle 16.
Q: Why are rates more or less in different seasons?
A: We use a pricing software that adjusts seasonally, so holidays and peak summer days are more than midweek or winter days. If you look at our reviews you'll see that guests enjoy staying with us in every season and find staying at Wonder Bear well worth while.
